At Deane Public Works Ltd we aim to reduce the impact our operations have on local communities, and make a positive contribution to the communities within which we work.
This includes minimising disruption; fostering local involvement and enterprise through the use of local labour, equipment, materials and Supply Chain Partners where possible.
We have well established links with Local Authorities, Job Centres, Recruitment Agencies and local newspapers and have a track record of working closely with all stakeholders to ensure we can offer ‘local people local jobs’.
We encourage employees to positively contribute to communities through charitable giving. Groups of employees from across the Company have raised thousands of pounds for charitable organisations.
Environmental &
Quality Policy Statement
The company is committed to the continual assessment and improvement of the effectiveness of its environmental policies through the systematic analysis of data and the subsequent setting of objectives and targets for improvement.
Senior Management shall communicate the effectiveness of the Environmental Management System and the Quality Management System to all levels within the company.
Attainment of the standards embodied in the system requires the commitment and participation of all members of the company as well as suppliers and subcontractors. To this end all employees of the company will be committed to continual improvement in the environmental performance of the company.
The company shall encourage suppliers and subcontractors to adopt environmentally sound and responsible practices.
Health & Safety Practices
It is the policy of the Deane Public Works Ltd that its operations are executed at all times in such a way as to ensure, so far as it is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of all our employees and all other persons likely to be affected by our operations.
Health & Safety practices, which are applied to all Works undertaken by the company, are based on the requirements of ISO 45001:2018.
The Managing Director is ultimately accountable for adherence to Health & Safety Legislation and is responsible for the effective implementation of Company Safety Policy. Under the Health & Safety at Work (NI) Order 1978 all employees have direct responsibility for their own safety and that of their fellow employees. The aim is to maintain a high standard of safety by continuous improvement.
A dedicated internal Health and Safety Manager is appointed to ensure this Policy compliance throughout the Company’s operations. On each working site, the Deane Project Manager, Agent, Engineers and Foremen are required to ensure that the Company’s safety procedures are observed.
The company shall provide suitable protective clothing, equipment and training where hazards cannot be eliminated using all reasonable and practicable steps. All of these reasonable and practicable steps shall be taken through Risk Assessments to ensure that workplace conditions, practices and procedures are safe and in compliance with the Health & Safety at Work (NI) Order 1978 and associated regulations such as the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations (NI) 2000 and any amendment thereto and the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations (NI) 2007.
Each Project Manager/Agent will inspect their site on a regular basis, give advice and guidance and when appropriate seek advice and guidance on all aspects of health, safety and welfare at work. It is the duty of all Company employees together with all Sub-Contractors and their employees to co-operate with the Project Manager/Agent at all times.
This statement along with all elements of our Health, Safety and Welfare Management System shall be communicated throughout the organisation by consultation with employees.
